I Can Do All Bad Myself.

Hey guys, let's state the fact.
I can do bad or Good myself, don't go blaming either on anyone.

You see I can totally understand when you blame a mother for the fact that her 10year old child can't sweep or do house chores.
But it won't make so much sense to go blaming a mother for her 19year old who still can't do a thing.

This is one of the direct piece I'm gonna be writing.

The truth is people will advice you, suggest to you what to do but its your decision to do as they say or not.
You are the decision maker of your life.
Don't go pushing blames on others,  you won't move ahead doing that,  rather you should take charge of your life.

Ensure you get the best out of it, forget who told you not to, forget who told you its only going to remain a dream, forget who said your vision for life is only but a fantasy, put behind the thought of where and how to start or go about your goals.
Someone once said the only way to start is to start.
Take that decision that's gonna change your life for good today,  and we will see at the Top where we all belong.

Yea, l'm in the fashion industry, Sophire_bleu is the brand name and it started in 2014, women clothings and kids wear (both gender), bespoke and ready to wear outfits and we expanding into bridal wears too.



So you have been into fashion designing for two (2) years now, tell me how did it all start up?

*smiles * let me say it's being more than two (2) years (laughing),  but I never took it serious not until a competition came up and a friend (Dave) told me about it and encouraged me to participate and that was when I realised my first look book😊.

Wow you have a look book,What does it entail? you see I really know little about fashion. 

Yeah...some few designs...😊

 Well, one really needs to know what's trending, be updated in the fashion world , understand color and how it works , be skilled , being versatile. .. because outfit speak.

Most importantly... having an idea of what you want to bring, time reality matters.... that's where sketching comes in, rough or perfect sketch it always helps... make the work pretty easy.

I forgot to mention earlier i'm fashion illustrator....which is a hobby 😆

Awesome, But what you are saying is someone who doesn't know much about fashion can't get into fashion?

If someone with less knowledge about fashion wants to go into fashion designing there won't be a problem, the fact the person has decided to,  it means there's  an interest which brings about passion; and there is nothing one can't achieve when there is passion with more or less knowledge about passion, everyone learn everyday...so someone with less knowledge of fashion can sure go into fashion designing.

But will need more opening to learn right?

Certainly, Register for  fashion classes in any fashion institutions around were he or she knows she can the knowledge. .. education is key in  everything

As you know the aim is to let youth have a reason they can go into fashion designing, at this point the floor is yours please give the readers a convinced reason for your field and how to go about it?

As I said earlier it all begins with passion,  fashion designing is the type of business anyone will excel in and enjoy whether you want to make it  a profession or a hobby.. that's always an excitement when you make something from nothing whether it's an old cloth you want to rebrand or a new one.

Formal education is necessary both mistakes we make as youths is to depend 100% on it...ain't cool...

Trust me someone with fashion designing skill always have an edge over his or her friends ..c'on it's cloths...and we rock them every day

No to Abuse

Left right, left right, up down
I tossed from the bed, down to the couch, till I landed on the floor.

Was it the way I treated him, was it the way I eagerly ran errands for him, or the manner at which i accorded him with so much respect, was it really something I did?

He was meant to be my uncle, I trusted him, my parents believed in him, my guard was covered when am with him, we all believed cause he was my shield.

It really couldn't have been because he watched me grow, after all he warned me about boys but here I am in the river flowing with my own tears.

My Hymen is broken against my will, via violence , where do I place my confidence, who do i trust , is the devil really a spirit wandering around or the one that dwells in a man the moment he takes from us forcefully what he shouldn't.

Abused, ashamed and brought so low I wonder what could have been the reason, it's certainly not the long gown mum always had me wear.

Betrayed by trust, set loose violently,  I didn't ask for this, where then do I go.

What's gonna happen, i've been abused by who was meant to be family, what more is dangerous.

Can't keep quiet, No way,  this is wrong.

Don't hurt that young girl, that pretty lady wrongly,  you tamper with her Self-Worth and Confidence for a lifetime for your 5minutes pleasure.

In every human there is a demon..
In each gender there are different strategies it exploits.

If today she becomes your punching bag just because you can't Manup and put aside your ego and anger, it really won't change her sharp mouth! You only become a demon.

If today you torture your man with emotions and needs as a companion because he hurts you, it really doesn't make you better than he is, it only proves you lack the qualities to bring out the best in him.

But really who says abusing her makes you a better man and grants you respect? Hell No! It grants you Fear in the heart of all and hate. Of What is a man who is only surrounded by hate?

 My name is Martins Owa Mathias
A Digital graphic Artist and A film maker.

 Wow all in one, nice.

What exactly does this fields  entails?

 As graphic artist, i assemble together pixels, colours, images, typography, or motion graphics to create a piece of design.

While as a film maker or film director, i'm in charge of making, leading, and developing movie productions

Wheww, that so much to take in.

But then anyone can do something with an image or color, why then is a graphic designer needed? Or an artist as u call it.

Though when it comes to art, i consider myself a free spirited designer, meaning i don’t place myself under a certain category. i just create as i feel at a given moment. so most times its even difficult for me to explain the end before creating.

 So their is a huge difference between an artist and a graphic designer in my perspective

A great artist is but a conduit or fluid for an expression that resonates with something that is greater than him or herself - Imaginary Foundation.

Deep words, but then how productive is this field?

Well, it solely depends on the individuals point of interest.

 Either Business, Fun or anything, it is highly productive.

 Hmmm for someone who is approaching this field for profit reasons, is it gonna be a positive pursuit?

 It cannot be phantomed,  The only thing that  can make out the difference is environment; The environment he or she finds herself.

Yes, well, I'm not a business Artist.

Knowing your field first will ease you so much, for instance, when you're able to separate business from family and friends.

The aim of this series is to let youths understand the various options of career out there and not have to wait on office jobs, so with this opportunity to talk to youths about your field what will your advice be?

Well, Knowing your area of strength is the number one factor.
In art there are various fields.
see what others are not doing and then go ahead and do it, you must know why you choose the field.

Start with the gadgets you have and share your ideas with friends and tell friends to tell friends and so on... Build the circle like that.
Choose a particular field, focus on it and be very excellent at it.
I think, hence the world would see the genius in you.

You are a man of many wise words I must say.
As a host I plead for the first 3steps to take to becoming successful in this field? So anyone aspiring can learn from it.

Step 1 Borrow a laptop(if you don't have one).
Step 2 have a flash with the desired program in it.
Step 3 install the program then start practicing
And when the laptop is gone go borrow another One.
Repeat the same process until you're able to buy yours
It might seem uncomfortable but it's worth it.

Believe me guys these steps are important cause its coming from a man who has been through that process.
One last question as we wrap up.
If you have one huge opportunity to create something for youths what will it be?

An art institution!!!

Why will that be?

Not just a school, but a creative place where people will connect to divinity... Because what people are driven with will be provided for.
I see what people don't.. If given the chance I will change humanity... We want to express.
Express something deeper than life itself, something that is larger than us.
That's what I will do with people.

Thank you for having me on your show.  It's an honour really.  And  I'm 100% grateful to be here 😊... my name is Jessica.  Everyone calls me jess though. A makeup artist by profession although its more like a hobby.

Wow, I really hardly hear people call their profession an hobby. Pardon me but growing up when I saw hollywood movies i constantly watched someone masking up another person's face and it was called makeup. So help me Is that what makeup is all about in reality?

You have to love what you do. Otherwise wen it gets hard you will become frustrated and what's supposed to give you joy will be without value.

Well..I wouldn't call makeup masking.  Though we have a genre that is called special effect makeup or FX that involves masking

But our regular day to day just involves enhancing an already beautiful face.

Your 1st sentence strikes me hard, deep words I must say.

But I must ask, when I speak about Miss jess is makeup all there is to say?

Ahh... Yess. I have a B.Sc in science education a diploma in computer science. Real soon a master degree in child psychology and development.

 What dah!!!! You are kidding me right now. You have all this and yet makeup, I bet you will never run out of resources.

So tell me when did you pickup this profession?

Let me quickly say this. I am self taught. ... so there was no specific turning point for me I just realised I had a gift and my good friends encouraged me to make something out of it.

I think am lost, you mean you never learnt under anyone.

Wow, this days when I meet someone who seems interested in this field they start to call huge amount of money just to acquire knowledge for the job.

And now you are telling me its possible to be this good self taught..

Very possible, It's good to have mentorship and all. But it is very possible.  Once it's a gift. Art is a gift all you have to do is explore.

 Wow, OK but a serious question.

I heard a makeup artist say she needs 50,000 to get her kits and get started. Is it really that difficult to start this profession? Cause I tell you that's what is holding a lot of people back.

Good makeup products are quite expensive,For a good and professional finish you need good products.

So does that mean the law of starting small doesn't apply to this field for quality?

Starting small works with quantity not quality. You can start with regular products then advance as you move. Besides this is a progressive business things change regular.  So you will move with the tide

So to every wannabe out there, you heard her don't wait to hit it big, before you start.

So tell me in this big city where there are a lot of professionals like yourself.

How do you cope competitively?

Keep growing. Never settle and never feel like you have arrived. Stay humble. Watch international videos. Keep up with the latest trends.

Attend competitions hold collaborative photoshoots push your brand.

That's deep marketing and branding strategy, As we wrap up I will like to ask this important question.

Is it possible to combine my academics with this profession?

My dear.... to every student out there. Attach something to your academics. Cause this world keeps revolving outside school. God has given you the ability to handle so much more.

It's is your own place to prioritise.

One cannot suffer at the expense of the other.

Hi, it's a pleasure to be here. I'm Faith Ombu popularly known as Kebi. I'm from Bayelsa state,Ijaw by tribe. I'm a graduate of the University of Abuja where I studied Physics Education. I also did a professional course in Culinary and Pastry Art in Chefs Academy.

Wow, that's a well calculated introduction and am trying not to get ahead of myself. So tell me Empire, sounds big what's it about?

THE CULINARY WORLD

Thanks.. Yeh it's actually very big. Palakebi's Empire is a catering Empire that evolves around the culinary world. It entails hotel and restaurant services, catering school including online classes, outdoor catering services etc... We aim at leaving our clients with a lasting experience that will always leave them connected to us.

And it's an Empire that will keep expanding beyond just this things mentioned above.

I must say you got my attention earlier when you said you had a Bsc degree and also a Catering degree, I will like to know was this as a result of a childhood dream or what?

I mean what's the drive for such pursuit?

Hmmm..it wasn't a childhood dream. As a matter of fact I never saw myself in the culinary world. I believe we humans can only plan our lives but God approves and even expands it more than we ever thought of as long as we're flexible to His own plans.

The passion for the culinary world developed in my 3rd year in school when I was given a welfare position in my fellowship back then.

And in this our generation, handiwork is the best along side your degree..

You can say that again, Handiwork is really needed. Well i can tell you are a smart lady,  you just always end your statement relating to my next question.

WHY YOU SHOULD CHOOSE THE CULINARY WORLD.

OK let's get down to the business of the day.

You are a young Ceo and you are certainly making it big, my readers and i would love to know certain things as youths in this our generation what makes this field( culinary world )a career option and how do we go about it? please educate us.

Thanks for your compliments. The culinary world is one aspect of life you can't do without either career wise or even personally. You can't live without food or hospitality.  Financially, you can never really get stuck in the culinary world because we have events everyday and weddings every weekends. If you have the right connection and you give your work an extraordinary touch you will never lack clients. It also cuts down to family,adding a good flavour in your home too which makes it better.

So, you are saying this Field is beneficial financially and personally. Hmmm tell me how do I even go about it?

Yes it is...Most importantly you must grow in order to either start and succeed, in this field PASSION is a major key. If you're not passionate about it you could end up being frustrated because you will need a lot of patience and you can only get it as long as you're passionate about your field. Also, as they say"charity begins at home" You could start from your home and those around. Start by making the usual dishes around you and serve it with love for your family and friends,you really don't know who will recommend you to someone and you will be given a  greater platform. Also, the kitchen is your laboratory. You are free to creatively experiment things and from there create your recipe that gives you your special flavour that differentiates you in an extraordinary from others because there are so many people in the field too. We are in a generation that apart from people knowing you are good, they also need to see proof and a certificate to show for it. It's really advisable you enroll in a culinary school for advanced knowledge and skills and for the certificate too.

Some people do not want to know how good you are until they know where you've been.

I must say your last statement strikes me hard.

So ma, I believe every reader who might be interested in this field has noticed that a lot of other people are into this too, please tell us how then do we cope competitively?

As I said in my previous response about your kitchen being your laboratory, you must be ready to creatively experiment new things that gives your brand a unique flavour different from the normal. Now that's what will help you a lot because if I'm used to eating just a particular style of rice,and someone introduces an extra touch to it and sells to me, trust me I'll go for the extra touch. Secondly,in as much as most people are after the profit,to stand out you should be after leaving a lasting experience in your clients head and you will have a flow of traffic in your business.

Wow so I take it the keys to standing out are, Creativity, Uniqueness and quality.

Asking you where your Empire will be in few years after hearing you speak is absolutely in appropriate.

Am sure you know Nigerians, we always love a head start for most things, I love to eat rice and stew/sauce but its getting tiring having it same every time from your experience in this profession, how can i spice that up?

RICE AND SAUCE RECIPE

In spicing up your rice and stew, you can incorporate veggies into your stew,it makes the food even more healthy.

 For the stew or sauce:

Put a little quantity of oil,when it's hot,

Put your chopped onions,garlic&ginger,

allow to fry a little

Add your fresh tomatoes and pepper and allow to fry.

When your tomatoes is fried add your minced meat and leave for 15mins,add sausages and your spices,

Then lastly add your veggies(green pepper,carrots,spring onions,green peas, cabbage),

leave to cook for 8mins.

Correct seasoning and then remove from heat.

Serve with your white rice.

Decision Tuesday!!!

Its about that time when we have to tame our desire and put priorities right.
In our current dispensation most youths are hustlers, striving hard in what they can do in order to attain fame and riches for one major purpose, either to be able to build a good life for themselves now and in future or some to ensure that they rise beyond their haters thoughts and make their parents proud.

While some are chasing after B.sc, M.sc name all sorts of degrees, just for the same purpose as above, although some might say its to acquire knowledge but when we dig deep they still want wealth and fame.

Have you not noticed that this pursuit never ends, its just a big circle it goes on and on.
Ever wondered why even the famous and rich Aliko Dangote hasn't stopped the production of salt,cement e.t.c even after he has acquired a name, wealth enough for his children and grandchildren maybe beyond who knows to permit other cement factories benefit from the cement business, that a different gist for another episode.
Let's go biblical check out King Solomon, he had all he ever desired wealth, fame wivessss that could take all the 's' if am to express it in writing but in the end he said all is Vanity upon Vanity.

I've come to discover only one thing isn't vanity and has a point(.) its Eternity. We will all get there someday, so while you are chasing after wealth and all that luxury, please checkout your relationship with the creator (God), is it in place?
Is your standing right?

Don't just claim to be a child of God or that you know God,  does God know you that way, is the relationship mutual?

Its the season of love and here is a letter from me to you.



Hey sis,
I can tell that it didn’t start with him cheating on u; neither did it start with him beating u up or not giving u all the attention u needed.

You had a strong notion that it was love – truthfully it was love built for a certain feeling.

Yes I know that feeling; I have being there… the yearning to be loved to be treated right…

We always want that special someone who is gonna look into our face even when we tell a boring story and still say “u re damn funny babe”; that someone who’s gonna trust us even though we know we lied…
The feeling that makes someone loves us die-hard despite our imperfections; the “knowing” that there is someone who would give up all for us…

I know u want all of this, my sister, but it’s not worth the struggle if he is gonna start well and end up with his fist on your face or another lady’s panties in his wardrobe.

It’s okay to want more, to wanna be loved; but its not okay to have to drop your standards low, to lose your self-worth, your respect, to lose your beauty to scars,to lose your confidence , and lose all that makes you who you are to a Man in the name of love, when he is meant to improve you.

My sister, my love, all I’m saying is: you don’t take just anybody because you need to feel loved. You don’t deserve less than what God has for you…all for that feeling that you don’t even trust.
You deserve more sis and you need to know this: YOU ARE A PEARL, the best investment a man can have. Don’t give yourself up for a cheap price.

Still in the season of love and have got enough to go round, here is a letter to my handsome brothers.


LETTER TO MY BROTHERS
Hi Bro,
I know you think I might not understand how it exactly works with you, but I do, at least, beyond average.
I have seen you get hurt, I’ve seen you love, and I've also seen you sacrifice all and get nothing in return. Not even her care, but then, you should move on right?.

Yes, I know you didn’t plan to be a
player, womaniser or a cold hearted guy. I know you got hurt by her first, I know it’s all because you lost on all your attempt to love and you got tired of trying.

Yes, you don’t want a lady who doesn’t see the best in you. You want one who is gonna love you like “momadaku” (I.e. I go die- yoruba lang).
Even in your humble state, I know you want her to
trust you and believe in your future, and you want her walking through your process with you.

But you don’t have to refashion your life because it looks like the kind of a lady you envision isn’t forthcoming. You don’t have to reduce yourself to every Lady’s man because you’ve been hurt before.

You don’t have to ruin it all because of one lady.

“You are a soon King of a wonderful Family” , You deserve more than sub-standard. You are a Treasure! .

Keep the standard, improve yourself, embrace the Adamic state, and then you will find the woman.

Grateful Heart

On the 15th of January, I got a notification from Facebook that my amazing editor Miss Fope Babalola shared a memory with me. After viewing it, it donned on me that I have being doing public writing pm and running this blog for  a year, 3 months and 3 weeks now.

Today, am sending a special shout out to the blog that gave me room to express" "Godpikinblogspot.com", to the amazing readers of bsorlahwrites.blogspot.com, and to those who check the blog daily, even when I post nothing.

I'm not where I want us to be, but we are on the way there and we will get there.

To my friends who criticise and encourage every piece I write, I'm grateful.

To everyone in general, thanks for believing in me, just stay with me there is more to come.

Whatever you find doing, do it well and don't relent, you may never know who is watching or learning from you. In that light, ensure you are doing something positive.
